Movie star Keanu Reeves has lived more lives than a cat on screen and off, and the man whose exceptional name and visage became synonymous with a certain kind of handsome mysterious cool in the 1990s has learned a lot on his journey. Keanu is a name of Hawaiian origin which loosely means “cool breeze over the mountains.” And Reeves continues to prove he lives up to his refreshing name in real life, just as he does as the hero of countless Hollywood films.
Talking to Stephen Colbert, appearing on the talk show circuit to promote the latest John Wick movie (John Wick: Chapter 3), Reeves was given a question sparked by the return of yet another great Reeves character.
Bill & Ted, of Excellent Adventure fame, are coming back too. The return is called Bill & Ted Face The Music, Reeves says. In it, they have as yet failed to produce the song that was supposed to save the world. They’re late on the project. And, you know, everything hangs in the balance, which prompts Colbert to pose a great big impossible question. He asks: “What do you think happens to us when we die, Keanu Reeves?”
Reeves pauses, presumably letting himself and his copacetic mind flow over the mountains, and replies movingly: “I know that the ones who love us will miss us.”
