Actress Donna Dixon of Bosom Buddies, wife of SNL veteran and Ghostbuster Dan Ackroyd, is in Spike Lee’s new comedy/romance/thriller, Da Sweet Blood of Jesus. It’s about human beings who are addicted to blood. Lee launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise the $1.2 million to make the film. It took 16 days to film. The film was released June 22.
Ms. Dixon has been on a 19-year film hiatus. Her last role on the silver screen was as Maureen Dean in the biographical film Nixon, starring Anthony Hopkins and directed by Oliver Stone. Dixon played the loyal wife of John Dean, the White House Counsel who helped engineer the Watergate coverup. Dixon was recently spotted on the red carpet with Ackroyd for the opening of his latest film, Get On Up, the biopic of James Brown. Ackroyd plays Brown’s agent, Ben Bart.
