Bastille is the English rock band that’s been nominated for Best New Artist at the 2015 Grammy Awards. The four-piece band consists of singer/songwriter Dan Smith, Chris “Woody” Wood on drums, Will Farquarson on bass, and Kyle Simmons on keyboards. Smith was born on Bastille Day (July 14), hence the name.
Bastille released their first official single “Overjoyed” in 2012 through Virgin Records. Then they started to headline music festivals including Blissfields and were featured on the cover of the music magazine, Notion. In 2014, they performed on Saturday Night Live. They’ve sold over 8 million records to date, and are now being dressed by Armani for the Grammy Awards red carpet (see photo).
