Billie Jean King and fellow top female athlete, LPGA champion Annika Sorenstam had breakfast with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on February 4, 2016, the week before Super Bowl 50. They gathered in San Francisco for The NFL Women’s Summit: “In the Huddle to Advance Women in Sport.” Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Serena Williams were there too. Goodell’s wife, former Fox New anchor Jane Skinner Goodell, moderated a panel titled “Media, Entertainment and Sports as a Platform.”
Jane Skinner Goodell said of her husband: “I always say Roger is incredibly supportive of women. I would never have married him if he wasn’t. So this type of a summit is very much up his alley.” Roger Goodell has been criticized for mishandling the Ray Rice domestic abuse case in 2014, among others.
