Academy Award and Tony Award winning triple-threat Ariana DeBose is known as a former contestant on So You Think You Can Dance (2009), a Broadway star (Bring It On: The Musical, Motown: The Musical, Hamilton, Summer: The Donna Summer Musical), and Hollywood star (Anita in Steven Spielberg‘s West Side Story), among others.
When not on a stage, DeBose spends time with friends. When she shared the photos below, of her with “incredible artist” Alexandra Hedison at an art gallery opening in Los Angeles, DeBose wrote: “It was so cool to see how many wonderful people come out to support this human and see the work she created.”
DeBose doesn’t mention Hedison’s wife by name, but two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster (The Silence of the Lambs, The Accused) is among those “wonderful people.” DeBose sneaks Foster into her photo drop above (swipe!) and below she is in the center of the photo.
Get ready to see more of DeBose: She will appear next on the big screen in Kraven the Hunter, the upcoming superhero movie based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, who’s played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Avengers: Age of Ultron).
DeBose plays Kraven’s love interest, voodoo priestess Calypso. Kraven the Hunter will be released in theaters on October 6, 2023. Teaser trailer below.
Note: In 2018, when asked about Marvel and DC superhero movies, Foster said: “Studios making bad content in order to appeal to the masses and shareholders is like fracking — you get the best return right now but you wreck the earth.” She added: “It’s ruining the viewing habits of the American population and then ultimately the rest of the world.”
However at the 2021 Cannes Festival, Foster revealed that she has changed her mind and said: “I’d like to do a Marvel film,” and voiced her appreciation for Iron Man and Black Panther.
For those who prefer to watch DeBose in musical comedies rather than in an action-packed superhero movie, DeBose continues to star in the Apple TV+ musical comedy series Schmigadoon! with Alan Cumming, Kristin Chenowith, Keegan-Michael Key, and Cecily Strong, among others.
