Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on HBO’s Game of Thrones, will (hopefully) appear next on the big screen in the film Above Suspicion. It’s a thriller based on the true story of Mark Putnam, a newly married FBI agent (Jack Huston, Ben-Hur) assigned to an Appalachian mountain mining town in Kentucky. There, he’s drawn into an illicit affair with Susan (Clark), a local impoverished and yet stunningly sexy woman who becomes his informant.
Jackass star Johnny Knoxville, a Kentucky native, plays the local drug dealing target. It doesn’t end well for anyone. In real life, Putnam became the first FBI agent to be convicted of murder. The film is based on the 1993 non-fiction book by former New York Times columnist Joe Sharkey. According to MovieInsider, Above Suspicion has been completed and is awaiting release by a distributor; release date not yet announced.

If Above Suspicion isn’t released soon, Clarke will appear next on the big screen in Last Christmas with two-time Oscar-winner Emma Thompson (Sense and Sensibility, Howards End), who co-wrote the screenplay. It’s a romantic comedy that takes place in London during the holidays. In Last Christmas Clarke plays a different kind of sexy. Clarke’s character, who works as an elf in a year-round Christmas store, makes a lot of bad decisions until she meets Tom (Henry Golding, Crazy Rich Asians). Last Christmas will be in theaters November 8.
