In the Hallmark movie Christmas at the Palace, former American professional ice skater Katie is hired by the young, handsome and single King Alexander (Andrew Cooper) of the fictitious European kingdom of San Senova. Katie’s job is to coach the King’s daughter, Princess Christina, who is performing in a big ice skating performance at the Kingdom. While Katie brings the royal family together with her Christmas joy, she also falls in love with King Alexander. Spoiler alert: It’s a happily ever after kind of story.
Katie is portrayed by Merritt Patterson. The Canadian-born actress is known for her roles on The Art of More (Olivia Brukner), The Royals (Ophelia Pryce, SEE LINK ABOVE), Ravenswood (Olivia Matheson), Kyle XY (Ashleigh), and in the biopic Unbroken: Path to Redemption (Cynthia Applewhite) based on Laura Hillenbrand’s bestselling book, among others. Christmas at the Palace premieres on Hallmark Channel on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, November 22 at 8 pm.
