Ian Eastwood is known in the dance world for being a YouTube star — his dancing videos have more than 77 million views. Ian recently put together a six-man dance troupe called The Young Lions. Although they don’t compete a lot, they performed together on the new TV competition World of Dance to the Bruno Mars song “Chunky.” Judge Ne-Yo said Eastwood looked like a taller, whiter brother of Bruno Mars. Judge Jennifer Lopez commented that “it’s too bad” Eastwood doesn’t sing because he gave her “crazy Michael Jackson vibes” during their performance.
But as the WOD judges point out, showmanship isn’t enough to win the competition. While Ian Eastwood and The Young Lions got a score of 83.7 which advances them to the next round, JLo told them the their next routine needs to be more exciting. This isn’t a performance, it’s a competition,” added judge Derek Hough. World of Dance airs Tuesdays at 10pm on NBC. Reruns air Saturday at 8pm.
