For the first time on the TV show Say Yes to the Dress, a transgender bride arrives at Kleinfeld’s to try on wedding dresses. In the episode ‘Love Is Love’, the bride Gabrielle Gibson tells the story of how her fiance Jaden, a transgender man, surprised her with the proposal. He proposed in Longwood Gardens, Pennsylvania, where they had their first official date. Jaden brought Gibson’s family (they hid on the property to watch the proposal). “He wanted to do it before our one-year anniversary because it would’ve been too expected and too cliché,” says Gibson. “And there’s nothing expected and cliche about our relationship at all.”
Gabrielle wants to find the perfect dress for her November wedding which will be held in a rustic barn in New Jersey. Gabrielle calls it “Country chic.” Say Yes to the Dress airs Saturdays at 8pm on TLC.
