The Season 10 winner of The Voice will be announced on the Live Finale on May 24. All four coaches are represented this year in the finals: by Hannah Huston (Team Pharrell), Alisan Porter (Team Xtina), Laith Al-Saadi (Team Adam), and Adam Wakefield (Team Blake). Since coach Blake Shelton’s new album If I’m Honest is coming out the day of The Voice Live Finals, he’s going to perform his new single “She’s Got a Way With Words.” It’s nothing like Billy Joel’s 1971 ballad “She Got a Way About Her.”
Shelton’s “She’s Got a Way With Words” is a bitter song about an ex-wife. (Shelton recently divorced from fellow country star Miranda Lambert.) The midtempo song includes the lyrics: “Little words like I and do/ Lie and cheat and you’re screwed/ Are words I thought I knew/ They’ve got a brand new meaning now.” Shelton didn’t write the song, and his friends who did (Wyatt Earp, Andy Albert and Marc Beeson) claim they wrote it before Shelton’s divorce. See the chorus below where Shelton sings, “She put a big FU in my future.” He’ll sing those words on The Voice Live Finale which airs Tuesday, May 24, beginning at 8pm.
“She’s Got a Way With Words” chorus:
She put the her in hurt
She put the why in try
She put the SOB in sober
She put the hang in hangover
She put the x in sex
She put the low in blow
She put a big FU in my future
Yeah she’s got a way, she’s got a way with words
Yeah she’s got a way with words
