Hollywood royalty duo Ron Howard and Brian Grazer have selected 14 YouTube stars to create short films (10 minutes long or less) for their lastest venture, New Form Incubator. With about $5 million in reserve, they are funding all 14 films. It’s up to the YouTube directors/creators to distribute the films through their YouTube channels.
Two YouTube stars selected for the New Form Incubator are Chris and Nick Riedell, aka The Brothers Riedell. They said they got a call after Howard and Grazer saw their first feature film Camp Takota. The Brothers (who have over 160,00 subscribers on YouTube) are directing their short film at YouTube’s studios in Los Angeles, which is free to use for anyone who has 10,000 subscribers or more. Of the Howard/Grazer connection, Nick Riedell tells Maria Menounos on E!’s Untold, “It fast-forwarded our careers really quickly.” He added, “Who gets to move to LA and in a year direct a feature film?”
