The 20-year-old Australian-Filipina actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith is being groomed to become the Miley Cyrus of the Land Down Under. Australian TV network, TV5, has signed another 3 year contract with Curtis-Smith, and it’s paying off. She’s now starring in a new mystery drama called ‘Jasmine’ which airs every Sunday afternoon at 5pm…and replays in the evening at 10pm. When not on the TV5 set, she’s acting in independent films like ‘Transit,’ where she played a Filipino child of an immigrant worker in Israel who faces deportation. She won Best Supporting Actress at the 2013 Cinemalaya Film Festival.
TV5’s ‘Jasmine’ is a fictional TV show about a young actress named Jasmine who has made a number of independent films and is now jumping into mainstream media. She wants to pursue a career as a “serious actress” and yet her TV network wants turn her into their next Primetime Princess. Oh, and to add more drama, she has a creepy stalker. America’s Hannah Montana-turned-Miley-Cyrus can relate.
