Former American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson is coming back to the show to perform and mentor the remaining nine contestants. They’ve been asked to select a Kelly Clarkson song to sing. Idol mentor Scott Borchetta said some will have it easier than others. The guys – Daniel Seavey and Rayvon Owen – might be in trouble. As Borchetta said, “Daniel will have the toughest job” of it. And Rayvon “really needs to step up.”
But the contestant who will have the easiest time singing a Clarkson song is Tyanna Jones. “Tyanna’s got this,” Borchetta said. “Kelly Clarkson songs are so in her wheelhouse.” Tyanna has displayed immense confidence and stage presence–star power you might call it. Perhaps Borchetta is thinking of Clarkson’s most watched performance: she sang for a TV audience of nearly 40 million at President Barack Obama’s second inauguration. It’s not hard to picture Tyanna Jones pulling that off. The Kelly Clarkson night on American Idol will air Wednesday, April 1, at 8pm on FOX.
