Academy-Award winner Gwyneth Paltrow, 38, recently queried Ellsworth Kelly, 88, for the pages of Interview, Andy Warhol’s tired set for celeb-on-celeb tongue action. During the chat Paltrow revealed that she owns a number of the artist’s plant drawings. She fell in love with his work when she was a mere 16 years old – at the home of Manhattan socialite and arts patron Anne Bass (mother of her best friend in high school).
At Kelly’s studio, the interviewer wore gray (her favorite color) so as not to compete with the artist’s famously colorful work. When Kelly showed her his latest (for Matthew Marks), Paltrow went all Clement Greenberg on him: “I love it,” she gasped. “It’s so you.”
