Pop star/actress Selena Gomez is following the footsteps of Rihanna into the beauty business. After the success of Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty, Gomez is reportedly planning to launch her own beauty line.
Gomez’s fashionable debut at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival included a bright red lipstick — she and (and her future husband) Bill Murray star in Jim Jarmusch’s The Dead Don’t Die. Is a Murray-inspired aftershave in the works? The Hollywood icon has supplied inspiration for plenty of products and projects for decades. Who else would Selena want her men to smell like?
[Candidates for consideration: Stinkbusters? Caddyshave? Eau du Groundhog? Lost In Scent-sation?]
Women’s Wear Daily was the first to report that Gomez’s company July Moon Productions filed a trademark for “Selena Gomez” for beauty products including cosmetics, soaps, skin care, hair care, perfumes, colognes, aftershave, incense and essential oils, among others.
But before Gomez’s beauty line is available for purchase (it took Rihanna four years to roll out her line after filing for her trademark), Oscar-winning diva Lady Gaga will beat Gomez to the cosmetics counters with her “HAUS Laboratories” this September. Pre-ordering has already begun!
