Who Is Sheriff Jude Ellis on ‘The Crossing’? That’s Steve Zahn

In the second episode of the sci-fi drama The Crossing, it’s the year 2187. Reece (Natalie Martinez) finds orphaned Common baby Leah (Bailey Skodje) and keeps her as her own. Meanwhile, in present day, Sheriff Jude Ellis of the Port Canaan Sheriff’s Department is blindsided when a black-ops team swoops into town and is determined to capture Reece by any means necessary.

Jude is portrayed by Steve Zahn. He’s known for his roles in the films War for the Planet of the Apes (Bad Ape), Captain Fantastic (Dave), The Ridiculous 6 (Clem), Dallas Buyers Club (Tucker), Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Frank Heffley), That Thing You Do! (see cast photo below), and Happy, Texas (Wayne), among others. Zahn is also recognized for his roles on the TV shows Modern Family (neighbor Ronnie) and Treme (Davis McAlary). The Crossing airs Mondays at 10pm on ABC, right after American Idol.
