In The Big Bang Theory episode “The Retraction Reaction,” Leonard (Johnny Galecki) is having a terrible day. After embarrassing himself during a radio interview with real-life science talk show host Ira Flatow, Leonard suspects that his job at the university is in jeopardy. So much so that he visits with HR director Mrs. Davis (guest star Regina King).
Since 1991, Flatow been hosting and producing the weekly science news talk show Science Friday on NPR which now has 1.5 million listeners. Flatow made his radio debut in 1969 on WBFO Radio in Buffalo, New York. He was still in school at the time, studying engineering at the State University of New York, Buffalo (class of 1971). The Big Bang Theory airs Mondays at 8pm on CBS.
