In the first season of Little Big Shots, host Steve Harvey introduced several talented young kids on the show. And their talent varied – from tap dancing twins to family of trumpeters (who performed at the 2017 presidential inauguration, btw). Another memorable act on Season 1 of Little Big Shots was four-year-old Pe’Tehn Raighn-Kem Jackson who recited the Useni Eugene Perkins poem, “Hey Black Child.” See video below.
[LEFT: Besides poetry, Useni Eugene Perkins wrote a lot about education of black children]
Since appearing on Little Big Shots and melting the hearts of millions of Americans, Pe’Tehn (okay, her parents) have been busy writing a children’s book based on a poem her parents wrote for her called “Affimations.” It will be available for $7.99 in Spring 2017. Little Big Shots returns to NBC for its second season on Sunday, March 5.
