The BAU team meets its international counterpart on Criminal Minds. Reunites is a more accurate word. Showrunner Erica Messer said of the new unit: “They know the BAU team because these guys do the same kind of thing; they just do it internationally. It was really important to me that there’s a familiarity between those two teams so that the comfort level between them will hopefully be the same thing that the audience will feel towards them.”
The newbies are Unit Chief Jack Garrett (Gary Sinise), Lily Mabert (Anna Gunn) and Matt Simmons (Daniel Henney). Besides playing Lieutenant Dan in Forrest Gump, Gary Sinise is best known for his TV role as Detective Mac Taylor on CSI: NY. Lily Mabert is best known for her Emmy-winning TV role as Skyler White on Breaking Bad. Daniel Henney is the handsome 35-year-old actor who’s best known for his role as Michael Noshimuri on Hawaii Five-0. The new team/spinoff make its debut on Criminal Minds on April 8, 9pm on CBS.
