Photos of Jennifer Aniston in the forthcoming dramatic film Cake aren’t pretty. Her famous hair is limp and greasy, she’s not wearing a speck of makeup, and her face is scarred. Her character has experienced tragedy and you can see it (literally) on her face. Aniston plays Claire Simmons, a member of a chronic pain support group who becomes obsessed by the suicide of a woman who used to be in her group.
Cake is directed by Daniel Barnz, who knows a thing or two about inner and outer beauty. He wrote and directed Beastly, a modern-day take on the tale of “Beauty and the Beast” starring Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical) and an unrecognizable Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike). Barnz said of his new leading lady: “Of the zillions of Jennifer Aniston fans, I might be the biggest one of all.”
