Evan Rachel Wood is set to star in a J.J. Abrams remake of 1973’s Westworld–a Michael Crichton film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This time they’ll stretch out Crichton’s tale into a series for HBO. Mike Sheppard at AskMen calls the original film starring Yul Brynner a “cult classic” that’s perfectly suited to what Abrams does best.
Anthony Hopkins will co-star with Wood and play Dr. Robert Ford, who oversees a creepy theme park called, yup, Westworld. It’s a bit of Jurassic Park with some The Truman Show mixed in. Wood’s character–Dolores Abernathy– finds out her life has been controlled by forces she knew nothing about. Hopkins will do everything but call her Clarise.
