Artist Tony Feher has been hanging plastic water bottles from the ceilings of galleries for years but this summer his career (to date) is on display at the Des Moines Art Center. 60 of his works from the past two decades will be walked around and under by curious, dexterous Iowans. Some might compare the exhibition to an obstacle course, but alerted senses will find some interesting pleasures in the cleverness.
Feher fans will have a difficult decision to make, however, on June 7. That evening, the Center will host a talk about his work – made not just of bottles but other MacGyver-friendly materials (tape, ropes, tacks and coins) – AND show its Free Flick on the front lawn at dusk: Raiders of the Lost Ark. Choices, choices.
