The movie Erasing His Dark Past has a sinister plot that is customary for a Lifetime movie. Recently widowed Karen (Laurie Fortier) tries to pick up the pieces after her husband David (Michael Welch) is presumed dead in a plane crash.
But when she tries to put his affairs in order, she realizes her husband isn’t who she thought he was. What’s unusual for a Lifetime movie is the presence of an Oscar-nominated actress. [More Lifetime movies streaming are always available.]
Mary Badham, who plays banker Barbara in Erasing His Dark Past, was nominated (at the age of 10!) for an Oscar for her supporting role as Scout Finch in the 1962 film To Kill a Mockingbird based on Harper Lee’s novel with Gregory Peck, who won an Oscar for his role as Atticus Finch. (Screenwriter Horton Foote won an Oscar, too.) P.S. Fellow child actress Patty Duke won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar that year for her role as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker.
Birmingham-born Badham has appeared in just four films since To Kill a Mockingbird. Her last role was as Mrs. Nutbush in the 2005 independent film Our Very Own with Allison Janney, Keith Carradine, Jason Ritter, and Cheryl Hines. That was 14 years ago!
According to imdb, Badham retired from acting and became a schoolteacher in Virginia. Another fun fact: Badham is the younger sister of John Badham, director of films including Saturday Night Fever, WarGames and Short Circuit.
Erasing His Dark Past premieres on Lifetime on Friday, October 11 at 8 pm.
