The Dateline episode ‘Diabolical’ is about Michelle Hadley, a 30-year-old woman from Anaheim, California who spent three months in jail last year after allegedly stalking her ex-fiance’s pregnant wife Angela Maria Diaz online. Hadley was accused of sending Diaz threatening emails “I hope you die” and posting a “rape fantasy ad” on Craigslist using Diaz’s home address. When police responded to a 911 call from Diaz, she was found with a ripped shirt and marks on her neck. Diaz told police a man had tried to rape her in her garage. Hadley was arrested and faced 10 felony charges including attempted rape.

All charges were dropped against Hadley in January 2017 when it was revealed that it was Diaz who was posing as a victim to frame Hadley. Diaz is facing charges including falsely reporting crimes. She is also accused of faking a pregnancy and cervical cancer, forging a check, and posing as an attorney and forging doctors’ notes. Court records show Diaz’s husband, U.S. marshal Ian Diaz, filed for a marriage annulment in September 2016. Dateline airs Fridays at 10pm on NBC.
