The singing talent show The Voice is back for Season 11. Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys have replaced Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams as coaches. During the first round of blind auditions, 28-year-old R&B singer Ali Caldwell from Woodbridge, NJ walks on the stage and blows all four of the coaches away with her rendition of Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Woman.” Adam Levine buzzes in first and stands up as Ali hits the high note. Blake Shelton follows with a “Let’s go” and Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys follow him. Miley, wearing her denim 3D flower suit, stands on her chair to cheer.
“I am so blown away,” says Adam Levine. “Everyone loves you already,” says Miley. But the coach who Ali is most excited to see to Alicia Keys. Ali tells Alicia, “I grew up in church. That’s where I’m from,” which provokes Alicia to walk up on stage and give her a couple of hugs. Adam Levine also walks on stage for a hug and waves to Ali’s family who join her on stage. Before Ali announces the name of the coach she’s decided to work with, she says, “one thing my mother always told me was ‘dare to be different.'” The Voice airs Mondays at 8pm on NBC.
