Sevendust is a five-man alternative metal band from Atlanta, Georgia comprised of guitarists John Connolly and Clint Lowery, bassist Vince Hornsby, drummer Morgan Rose, and lead vocalist Lajon Witherspoon. Their song “Thank You” from their eleventh full-length album Kill The Flaw album peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 list. Now Sevendust is nominated for their first GRAMMY, for Best Metal Performance.
Witherspoon says he can’t believe after 20 years Sevendust has been nominated. The 42-year-old married father of two daughters tells a good story about how he heard the news. He was getting his daughters ready for school when his manager called and told him to check his texts. Witherspoon said no, “I’m really busy right now.” When his manager tells Witherspoon Sevendust’s been nominated for a GRAMMY, Witherspoon says his wife started crying. “It was an emotional morning for us,” Witherspoon admitted. “Can’t wait to be there,” he added. The 58th Grammys Awards show will air on February 15 at 8pm on CBS.
