During the Season 10 premiere of The Voice, Alisan Porter sings “Blue Bayou” for her Blind Audition and nails it. Porter hits all the high notes and all the judges turn around. At the end of the performance all four give her a standing ovation. Judge Adam Levine takes his ovation a literal step further — he walks to Porter on stage, kneels and kisses her hand and then embraces her. Christina Aguilera breaks up the love fest and walks over and gives Porter a hug too. “Bring it home to, mama,” Xtina says.
Porter says she’s been singing since she was five years old. She was on TV talent show Star Search (just like Xtina), and she starred in the 1991 John Hughes film Curly Sue with James Belushi. She was also in Parenthood (Steve Martin’s daughter Taylor, who throws up on him!) and I Love You To Death (Kevin Kline’s daughter). But Porter also traveled a hard road: now that she is sober (8 years), married and with children, the magnificent singer is committed to her passion — music. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
