Vogue writer Rob Haskell is under the media microscope for describing model-turned-actress Cara Delevingne’s bisexuality as just a “phase.” Many in the LGTB community are angry. Thousands are signing a petition to encourage an apology. But the fact is, they shouldn’t be surprised.
Haskell, an alumni of Yale University (1996), addressed his experience with the fashion industry at one of his alma mater’s events. At the time he was the Senior Features and Fashion Editor at W magazine. He described his life at W, as such: “The men are gay, all the women wear great clothes, and there are a lot of benefits, perks and freebies associated with living this way.” Haskell admitted to not doing much research before interviews with celebrities so “they can teach him about who they truly are.”
