The Canadian and classier version of South by Southwest, Luminato, commissioned emerging artist Jorinde Voigt to create a series of drawings to accompany musician Stewart Goodyear’s highly anticipated performance of Beethoven’s 32 piano sonatas at this year’s fancy festival (June 8-17). Goodyear will perform all 32 sonatas in one day (103 movements in 10 hours on June 9th), and in the order in which they were composed. The exhibition of drawings, Beethoven 1-32, will be on view at the Royal Ontario Museum until October.
While Voigt cites hours of childhood cello lessons as the source of her artistic discipline, Mr. Goodyear performed his first Beethoven piano sonata at age 10.
