Former graffiti artist Brian Donnelly, aka KAWS, is now a professional painter. The largest ever exhibition of his work is currently on view at Atlanta’s High Museum of Art.
Hip-hop mogul Pharrell Williams said of KAWS: “He’s the guy that made my generation pay attention to art.” KAWS is known for painting x’s over the eyes of popular cartoon characters including SpongeBob Square Pants, Snoopy, and the Simpsons and his line of graphic t-shirts and plastic toys called OriginalFake. He’s represented by Honor Fraser in LA and Galerie Perrotin in Paris.
