American actor Glen Powell has played bad asses before, including maybe one of the baddest dudes to ever walk on this planet — or off it, for that matter. Powell embodied astronaut John Glenn in Hidden Figures, an instant classic.
But now the 30-year-old Powell has some enormous shoes to fill — he plays some shirtless football while glistening in Top Gun 2: Maverick — a scene that echoes the famous beach volleyball scene in the original. That’s it. But it’s enough to dominate the trailer. Don’t blink: Powell glistens at the 1:27 mark.
Who knows what other lovely surprises Powell will lend to this Tom Cruise juggernaut flick, but he’s already got people talking. (Cruise, btw, is the essence of cool as he says to Ed Harris, “that’s one of life’s mysteries, sir.”)
Hey give Powell credit: at least the guy practiced getting shirtless. And he has a pretty good sense of humor about his good fortune.
