Singer Mandy Harvey was given an unusual gift, she realizes, when she lost her hearing. Her incredible forbearance and courage to persevere has inspired millions after her dramatic and amazing appearances on America’s Got Talent. Mandy didn’t just pop up on the America’s Got Talent radar untested either — the singer, who has been deaf since she was 18, has released four albums already. She is perseverance personified.
For the AGT semi-finals, Mandy must compete against some strong competition. But what Mandy brings to the stage — besides a beautiful voice, a powerful spirit, and an emotional story — is her songwriting craft, which is rooted in her journey. Mandy’s first performance, which earned her a Golden Buzzer, was of her own song entitled “Try” — which is about what it sounds like. For the semi-finals, Mandy is doing a “new song” and says she’s ready to “sing my heart out.” The new song Mandy’s excited to share will tell “a new story.” But as the songwriter Mandy knows, all the stories go back to the basics, where compassion and passion are the king and queen. She’s going to bring them both.
I’m so excited about @AGT tomorrow! I’m ready to share a new song and tell a new story! Relieved my family is safe! #Irma #singingmyheartout pic.twitter.com/Ds0BixfCbb
