In The Simpsons episode ‘The Nightmare After Krustmas’, Krusty converts to Christianity to impress his daughter Sophie. (Krusty had a one-night stand with Sophie’s mother while he was performing with a USO tour during the Gulf War.) Krusty’s baptism becomes a life-threatening event when he falls through the ice. During an underwater hallucination, Krusty has a conversation with his late father, Rabbi Hyman Krustofski (comedian Jackie Mason).
In the 2000 episode when Krusty discovered he had a daughter, Sophie was voiced by Drew Barrymore. In this episode, Sophie is voiced by actress Natasha Lyonne. She’s known for her TV roles on Orange Is the New Black (Nicky Nichols) and Pee-wee’s Playhouse (Opal). She’s also recognized for her roles in the films American Pie (Jessica), Scary Movie 2 (Megan), and Woody Allen’s musical, Everyone Say I Love You (DJ), among others. The Simpsons airs Sundays at 8pm on FOX.
