Young M.A. (born Katorah “Kat” Kasanova Marrero) is the 24-year-old rapper from Crown Heights, Brooklyn performing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on November 4. She became famous after releasing her hit single “Ooouuu” earlier this year. It hit the #21 slot on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. She recently performed the song at the 2016 BET Hip-Hop Awards.
Young M.A. is one of the few openly gay female rappers in the music industry. (She came out to her mother when 18.) In a video interview with Genius, she breaks down the lyrics to Ooouu including (the NSFW) “Baby gave me head, that’s a low blow. Damn she make me weak when she deep throat.” She comments: “I understand guys that don’t understand because they’re not a dyke…But all the dykes out there know what I’m talking about.” She adds, “It ain’t for a guy to understand.” The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs Fridays at 11:30pm on NBC.
