Country stars Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley, and Little Big Town will sing the late David Bowie’s 1977 song “Heroes” during the Stand Up to Cancer telethon which will air on Friday, September 9 at 8pm on all the big networks including CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX. David Bowie died of liver cancer on January 10, 2016. He was 69.
Like most people, all three acts have been affected by cancer personally. Keith Urban lost his father Robert to cancer last year. [Urban’s song ‘Gone Tomorrow (Here Today)’ on his album Ripcord is inspired by the passing of his father.] Little Big Town’s Jimi Westbrook lost his sister Joyce Marie to cancer late last year too. The executive producer of the telethon, Oscar-winning actor Bradley Cooper also lost his father Charles to cancer in 2011. Stand Up to Cancer will air Friday, September 9 at 8pm.
