Professional boxer Floyd Mayweather is seen as many things – a world champion, a billionaire, an illiterate (?), and a misogynist. It might come as a surprise to his fans to learn that he’s a fan of American Idol. To be more specific, he’s a fan of Idol contender Gianna Isabella. When FOX opened the lines for people at home to vote for their favorite singers, Mayweather encouraged his nearly 7 million followers to vote for Gianna (see below).
Think Mayweather’s influence will help or hurt Gianna’s chance of making it to the Top 10. Or does the young talented teen even need Mayweather’s endorsement? After naming the Top 4 on American Idol, judge Jennifer Lopez told Gianna, “You’re my number 5, you deserve to be in the Top 10.” American Idol airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8pm on FOX.
