Like a horrific mutant supervillain who obliterates everything in his path and who cannot be destroyed, Marvel Studios intends to keep on churning out dumb comic-book movies forever and ever and ever. Bob Iger, CEO of Disney (which owns Marvel), told BBC Newsbeat that there are so many characters in the Marvel Universe, the studio will simply never run out of movies. “Marvel, you’re dealing with thousands and thousands of characters – that will go on forever,” he said (and then laughed maniacally, I assume).
Iger added that he doesn’t think audiences are getting tired of comic-book films. Sadly, he might be right about that. So be warned, filmgoers. The Multispandex is just going to stretch even more, and you’re going to have to learn the names of even more obscure characters, such as Namor the Sub-Mariner, Venom, and Moon Knight.
