In The Middle episode ‘Hoosier Maid’, while Frankie (Patricia Heaton) is tickled pink when she wins free maid service for one month, her husband Mike (Neil Flynn) and his brother Rusty (Norm MacDonald) look into assisted-living facilities for their father, Big Mike Heck.
Big Mike is portrayed by John Cullum. The 85-year-old actor is known for his roles on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (Judge Barry Moredock), Mad Men (Lee Garner, Sr.), ER (David Greene), and Northern Exposure (Holling Vincoeur), among many others. Cullum is also recognized for his stage work: he won two Tony Awards as Best Actor in a Musical (Shenandoah, and On the Twentieth Century). The Middle airs Tuesdays at 8pm on ABC.
