On the TV drama The Family, when little Adam Warren disappeared in Red Pines, Maine, the police focused on the Warrens’ neighbor, Hank Asher, as a prime suspect. The known sex offender was coerced into confessing to Adam’s murder and had served ten years in jail before Adam reappeared. Since Adam is alive, Hank is released. He doesn’t want the Warrens’ pity, he wants revenge.
Hank Asher is portrayed by Andrew McCarthy. He’s best known for his roles in the films Pretty in Pink, St. Elmo’s Fire, Less Than Zero, Weekend At Bernie’s, and Mannequin. Fun fact: McCarthy is also a writer. He’s editor-at-large at National Geographic Traveler magazine. His travel memoir, The Longest Way Home: One Man’s Quest for the Courage to Settle Down, was a 2012 New York Times bestseller. His young adult novel, Just Fly Away, will be out in spring 2017. The Family airs Sundays at 9pm on ABC.
