When I saw the original Portrait of a Young Woman (by Petrus Christus), I spontaneously wept for the very first time for an artwork.
I knew immediately that I could surround myself with silent teachers.

Since 1995, Dutch photographer Hendrik Kerstens has been photographing his daughter, Paula. His portraits refer both to the Dutch masters and the those of the Italian Renaissance. Kerstens is represented by Danziger Gallery (New York), Byron Cohen Gallery (Kansas City, MO), Witzenhauser Gallery (Amsterdam) and Nunc Contemporary (Antwerp).
