Hollywood movie star Renée Zellweger is known for her roles in films including Nurse Betty, Jerry Maguire, Bridget Jones’ Diary, Chicago (below), and Cold Mountain (for which she won an Academy Award), among others. More recently she portrayed triple threat singer/dancer/actress Judy Garland in the biopic Judy, which earned her her second Oscar.
When not on a movie set, the Texas native Zellweger spends time with her partner, Ant Anstead, who sent out the alert that Zellweger is singing and playing guitar with her old friend, fellow Texan and film director CM Talkington.
As seen in the video below, together they perform the country song, Two Steps, with Talkington’s band, Texas Radio. The music video/film, which was filmed in Texas, is directed by Mark Pellington.
When Pellington posted the video on YouTube, he described the video as a “free wheeling track… showcasing the true to life, friendship and vocal chemistry between two great friends, Carty Talkington, and Renée Zellweger,” and as “a melancholy ditty, a swinging country twang full of memory, longing and sunsets to die for.”
Fans are going wild over the video. As one replied: “Video is even better than I could’ve imagined! Beautiful, cinematic, poetic, Texas Iconic, Americana yee-haw! Video does this amazing song sweet justice. Truly Texcellent.” Another chimed in: “Amazing duet!“
Be sure to watch until the very end: Zellweger sings solo with an acoustic guitar for a poetic coda.
Talkington directed Zellweger in the sexy crime drama Love and a .45 with Gil Bellows. See trailer above.
