Hollywood star Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Seinfeld, Veep, You People) is launching her own podcast, Wiser Than Me, on April 11. According to the promotional materials, 62-year-old Louis-Dreyfus “wants to know why the hell we don’t hear more from older women,” so she’s sitting down with actress/activist Jane Fonda, comedian Carol Burnett, fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, and writers Amy Tan, Isabel Allende and Fran Lebowitz “to get schooled in how to live a full and meaningful life.”
Listen to the trailer below. As 85-year-old Jane Fonda says, “It’s really, really hard to be young.” And if you’re not interested in any of her celebrity guests, you can tune in to hear Louis-Dreyfus talk to her 89-year-old mother, Judy, or just listen to the host’s extraordinary famous laugh.
Get ready to see more of Louis-Dreyfus: she’s reprising her Marvel Cinematic Universe role as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (see set photo below) in the upcoming movie Thunderbolts with Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Harrison Ford, among others. It’s about “a group of supervillains are recruited to go on missions for the government,” and is scheduled for a July 2024 release.
Fun fact: Louis-Dreyfus’s character Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in the 1998 movie Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. was portrayed by future Real Housewives of New York City star Lisa Rinna. The titular character was played by David Hasselhoff.
