Dame Helen Mirren is in the news, paying tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II, whom Mirren portrayed in the 2006 film The Queen (and won an Oscar for the portrayal).
The 77-year-old star will appear next on the big screen in White Bird: A Wonder Story (based on the book Wonder). The uplifting film will be released on October 14. See trailer below.
Mirren will shift gears and play the character Hespera in the superhero movie Shazam! Fury of the Gods with Zachary Levi. Trailer below.
Hespera, the daughter of the god Atlas, is a demi-god villain in Greek mythology (she’s not featured in DC Comics). According to screenrant, Hespera “plays both sides of the good-vs-evil debate if it means she gets something out of it.”
