On the Madam Secretary episode “Valor,” while Daisy Grant (Patina Miller) is questioned about an arrest in her past, First Gentleman Dr. Henry McCord (Tim Daly) teams up with a Marine veteran to fight for legislation that helps Veterans Affairs provide better mental health care.
The two men are surprised when they meet resistance from Vice President Carlos Morejon (Jose Zuniga) and Chairman of the Veteran Affairs Committee Senator Peoples.
Senator Peoples on Madam Secretary is portrayed by Tom Wopat, the actor best known for his role as Luke Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard. Wopat is also recognized for his roles on Longmire (Sheriff Jim Wilkins), Cybill (Jeff Robbins), and A Peaceable Kingdom (Dr. Jed McFadden), among others.
