Oscar-winning actress Natalie Portman is promoting her forthcoming film Lucy in the Sky. She plays an astronaut, Lucy Cola, who “begins to lose touch with reality” on earth after experiencing a transcendent time in space. For the role, Portman takes on a Southern accent and wears a Dorothy Hamill style wig. Her co-stars are Jon Hamm (Mad Men) and Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), both play fellow NASA astronauts.
She’s obviously deep in character for the role. If you showed this picture to a hundred people on the street and asked them to show you the movie star Portman, you’d get a lot of blank looks.
In the post below, Portman shares a “behind-the-scene” photo from the set. She professes her love for Beetz. “Besides having the coolest name ever (I mean 3 z’s, come on)… Zazie is brilliant, funny, and crazy talented. Also, she’s fluent in German. Wait til you see her in @lucyintheskyfilm!”
Lucy in the Sky will be in theaters on October 4, 2019.
