On the For the People episode “One Big Happy Family”, Sandra (Britt Robertson) urges Kate (Susannah Flood) to take on a case against a very powerful and well-respected judge who is accused of wrongfully sentencing young children for profit. When Judge Bryne (Vondie Curtis-Hall) is asked to testify in the case, he questions his role in the rigid justice system and must make a very difficult decision.

Donald is portrayed by Dabney Coleman. The 87-year-old actor is known for his roles on Broadway Empire (Commodore Louis Kaestner), The Guardian (Burton Fallin), Buffalo Bill (Bill Bittinger), Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman (Merle Jeeter), and That Girl (Dr. Leon Bessemer), among others. Coleman is also well recognized for his roles in a variety of films including You’ve Got Mail (Tom Hanks’ father Nelson Fox), WarGames (McKittrick), 9 to 5 (boss Franklin Hart, Jr.), and Tootsie (Jessica Lange’s father Ron who falls for the cross-dressing actor). For the People airs Thursdays at 10 pm on ABC, right after Station 19.
