The Grey’s Anatomy episode “Silent All These Years” is inspired by Christine Blasey Ford’s testimony regarding Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Grey’s Anatomy showrunner Krista Vernoff says after watching Ford’s testimony, she asked the writers “to do something about consent.” Vernoff says “what these great writers brought to it is so much character and so much humanity and so much heart.” In this episode, Jo (Camilla Luddington) confronts her past when a trauma patient arrives at Grey Sloan. She approaches her birth mother who is hesitant to speak to Jo. When Jo convinces her to meet her at a diner for just one conversation, Jo asks who her father is, which is a painful question for her mother to answer.
