In the A Million Little Things episode “The Rosary,” when Maggie (Allison Miller) goes in for life-changing surgery, her friends are surprised when her mother Patricia shows up. As actress Miller explained at a press conference, “Maggie and her mom have a very contentious relationship, but it’s from a place of love.” Miller added that the loss of Maggie’s brother affected them differently and tore them apart.
Patricia is portrayed by actress Melora Hardin. She’s known for her roles on The Bold Type (Jacqueline Carlyle), The Blacklist (Isabella Stone), Transparent (Tammy Cashman, for which she was nominated for an Emmy Award), The Office (Jan Levinson), Wedding Band (Roxie Rutherford), Monk (Trudy Monk), Dirty Dancing the TV series (Baby Kellerman), and in films including Hannah Montana: The Movie (Lorelai), 17 Again (Principal Masterson), and 27 Dresses (Maureen), among others.
A Million Little Things airs Thursdays at 9 pm on ABC, right after Grey’s Anatomy, and right before How To Get Away with Murder.
