In The Goldbergs episode “The Wedding Singer”, all hands are on deck for Barry (Troy Gentile) and Lainey’s (AJ Michalka) wedding — which is right around the corner. Beverly (Wendi McLendon-Covey) is in her element as she tries to make everything perfect for her schmoopie’s big day. While preparing, Beverly meets wedding singer Jimmie Moore who tells her, “I’m half the price and twice the sex appeal!”
[Lovitz was Ernie in A League of Their Own]
Wedding singer Jimmie Moore is portrayed by Jon Lovitz. The comedian is reprising the role from Adam Sandler’s 1998 movie The Wedding Singer. In the film, Moore (Lovitz) auditions as a wedding singer for Drew Barrymore’s wedding. Lovitz is also known for his years on Saturday Night Live (SNL Best of Jon Lovitz DVD here) with Sandler, and for his TV roles on Mr. Box Office (Bobby Gold) and NewsRadio (Max Lewis). Lovitz also starred in the films City Slickers (Glen Robbins), A League of Their Own (Ernie Capadino), Big (Scotty Brennen), Three Amigos (Morty), and Jumpin’ Jack Flash (Doug), among many others. The Goldbergs airs Wednesdays at 8 pm on ABC, right before The Goldbergs spin-off Schooled.
Hey @goldnerds! Question! In our next episode, we shot a bit that gives an epic shout-out to my favorite John Lovitz joke in The Wedding Singer. When I screened the scene, it was deemed too bizarre and random and would baffle all of America. So I ask you, should I have kept it? pic.twitter.com/Hb5vjGNrRo
