The protagonist of the new ABC crime drama Deception is Cameron Black, who is portrayed by Jack Cutmore-Scott. Cameron was the world’s greatest illusionist until his greatest secret was exposed, which ruined his career in magic. Now he works with FBI agent Kay Daniels (Ilfenesh Hadera) to solve strange crimes. They occasionally work with Special Agent Deakins.

Agent Deakins is portrayed by Laila Robins. The stage actress (Tom Stoppard’s The Real Thing, 1985; George Bernard Shaw’s Heartbreak House, 2006) is also known for her roles on Quantico (General Richards), Murder in the First (Jamie Nelson), and Homeland (Martha Boyd), among others. Robins is also recognized for her roles in the films Eye in the Sky with Helen Mirren, An Innocent Man (see link above) with Tom Selleck, and True Crime with Clint Eastwood. Fun fact: Robins made her acting debut in the 1987 film Planes, Trains & Automobiles as Susan, the wife of Steve Martin’s character). Deception airs Sundays at 10pm on ABC.
